Prohibited Items & Recalls
Last updated: November 4, 2026
KidResize is a marketplace for used children's items. Federal law bans selling recalled children's products and products that don't meet federal safety rules, and this applies to used items as well as new ones. Sellers must check before they list.
Before you list: check for recalls
- CPSC recalls: cpsc.gov/Recalls
- Product reports: SaferProducts.gov
- Car seats: nhtsa.gov/recalls. Search by make, model and manufacture date on the day you list.
Prohibited: you may not list
- Any item subject to a recall.
- Inclined infant sleepers, crib bumpers, and drop-side cribs.
- Full-size or non-full-size cribs made before June 28, 2011, or without a label showing the manufacture date.
- Infant sleep positioners and weighted infant sleep products.
- Children's sleepwear that doesn't meet federal flammability standards (16 CFR 1615/1616) or is missing its label.
- Children's items with drawstrings at the hood or neck (sizes 2T–12).
- Items known or suspected to exceed lead or phthalate limits.
- Used breast pumps sold as single-user devices, and opened or used bottle nipples, pacifiers or teethers.
- Children's products with broken, missing or altered parts, or with safety warnings or labels removed.
- Counterfeit, replica or knockoff items, including items described as "inspired by," a "dupe," or "[brand]-style."
- Stolen goods.
- Anything illegal to sell, or that we decide is unsafe or inappropriate.
Restricted: car seats, bases and boosters
These may be listed only if you confirm, on the listing form, that the seat:
- is not past its expiration date;
- has never been in a crash of any severity;
- has all original parts, straps, padding, labels and instructions, with no replaced or aftermarket parts;
- is not under recall.
You must also upload a clear photo of the label showing the model number and manufacture date.
These are your statements. KidResize doesn't inspect, test or verify car seats. Buyers must check the label, expiration date and recall status themselves before use. A false confirmation makes the item not as described.
Brands and authenticity
Sell only genuine items. Use brand names only to accurately describe the item. See Terms §17A.
If an item is recalled after it is sold
When we learn that a sold item is subject to a recall:
1. We remove it. We take down the listing and any identical active listings, and cancel unshipped orders with a full refund to the buyer.
2. We notify the buyer. We email the buyer with the recall notice, a link to the official recall page (cpsc.gov or nhtsa.gov), and the manufacturer's remedy instructions. We tell the buyer to stop using the item.
3. Claims. If the buyer is still within the claim window, the order is handled as a not-as-described claim (Terms §10 and §12.4). Outside the window, the buyer should follow the manufacturer's remedy (many recalls offer a refund, repair or replacement directly), and we'll review the case in good faith.
4. The seller. We notify the seller. Payout and account consequences follow Terms §16.4.
Since November 4, 2026,
if you listed the item in good faith before the recall was announced, we review your payout and account case by case, and the forfeiture in Terms §16.4 doesn't apply automatically.
5. Report it. Anyone can report a safety problem with a product to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov.
Reporting a listing
Use "Report suspicious activity" on the listing, or email help@kidresize.com. Rights owners should report IP problems to legal@kidresize.com (Terms §17A.6, §18).
What we may do
We may remove any listing, cancel and refund orders, and limit or suspend accounts that break these rules (Terms §11.4, §16).
